Done Brothers (Cash Betting) Limited is a UKGC-licensed gambling operator. Done Brothers (Cash Betting) Limited has 1 regulatory action on record with the UK Gambling Commission.
This company is a British gambling operator active in both retail and remote betting and gaming markets. It is licensed by the Gambling Commission to offer betting and other regulated gambling activities to customers in Great Britain. The business is privately owned and trades primarily under the Betfred brand.
The company traces its origins to 1967, when brothers Fred and Peter Done opened their first betting shop in Salford, Greater Manchester. Over subsequent decades it expanded its network of licensed betting offices across Great Britain and later developed remote (online and mobile) gambling services. The business remains under the ownership and control of the Done family and functions as the principal UK operating company for the Betfred group.
Within the wider group structure, this entity is associated with various related companies used for international and online operations, including Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited and Tote Bookmakers Limited. The group has also expanded into regulated sports betting markets outside Great Britain, including the United States, through Betfred-branded entities.
This operator holds a Gambling Commission operating licence, with its account recorded as active. The operating licence authorises it to provide betting and other forms of regulated gambling to customers in Great Britain, subject to the specific licence activities and conditions imposed by the regulator. These activities include the provision of facilities for betting through licensed betting offices and remote channels, and, through appropriate licence permissions, associated gaming products such as casino-style games, bingo and betting intermediated through remote platforms.
The company’s licensed activities support a mixed retail and remote model. In Great Britain it operates a large chain of licensed betting premises under the Betfred name, alongside online and mobile services that offer sports betting, casino games, bingo and other gambling products. The group also operates media and content services linked to its betting operations, including Betfred TV, which provides coverage and information for customers in its betting shops and via digital platforms.
The operating licence is subject to ongoing regulatory requirements, including conditions relating to social responsibility, anti-money laundering controls, customer protection, reporting and cooperation with the Gambling Commission.
On 6 July 2023 the Gambling Commission published a regulatory settlement with this operator following an investigation into social responsibility and anti-money laundering failings. The failings occurred between January 2021 and December 2022 and related to weaknesses in customer due diligence and safer gambling controls. Identified issues included inadequate “know your customer” and source of funds checks, insufficient record keeping, and over-reliance on open-source information when assessing customer risk.
As part of the settlement, the company agreed to pay £3.25 million. The sum was directed to socially responsible purposes in line with the Commission’s regulatory settlement framework. The operator also agreed to additional licence conditions and remedial measures aimed at improving its policies, procedures and controls in the areas identified.
The company remains licensed and active, with its Gambling Commission account status recorded as active following the conclusion of this regulatory action.
