Gamesys Operations Limited operates 15 online gambling sites in the UK. Their gambling sites include ballycasino.co.uk, doublebubblebingo.com, monopolycasino.com and 12 more.
This entity is a remote gambling operator providing online casino-style games, bingo and related products to consumers in Great Britain. It holds an active operating licence from the Gambling Commission and continues to trade under that authorisation. It forms part of a wider corporate group that traces its origins to the establishment of the Gamesys business in 2001.
The broader Gamesys business was founded in 2001 by Andrew Dixon, Noel Hayden, Robin Tombs and a small software development team as an online gaming company specialising in bingo, casino and related games. A dedicated operating company for regulated activities in Great Britain was subsequently created to hold UK licences and run consumer-facing websites. Over time, the group expanded its portfolio of brands through internal development and acquisitions, including the purchase of Virgin Games in 2013.
Corporate ownership of the group has changed through a series of transactions. In 2015, the Jackpotjoy brand was sold to The Intertain Group, which later became JPJ Group. In 2019, JPJ Group completed a reverse takeover of the Gamesys business and adopted the name Gamesys Group plc. Gamesys Group plc was listed on the London Stock Exchange and was a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index until it was acquired by Bally’s Corporation, a United States-based casino operator, in October 2021. Following this acquisition, Gamesys became part of Bally’s global interactive division, while continuing to operate in Great Britain under its existing Gambling Commission licences.
This company holds a Gambling Commission operating licence for remote gambling. The licence authorises it to offer online gambling services to customers in Great Britain, including casino games, bingo and associated products, in accordance with the conditions attached to its licence and the provisions of the Gambling Act 2005.
Under this authorisation, it may provide remote facilities for gambling via internet platforms and associated digital channels. The operating licence requires the company to comply with technical standards, customer identity and age verification rules, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing requirements, and safer gambling and consumer protection obligations set by the regulator.
The licence recorded by the Gambling Commission is currently listed as active. The Public Register entry confirms that the company is authorised to conduct remote operating activities, subject to any specific conditions or regulatory settlements that may apply from time to time. There is no indication on the Public Register that the licence has been surrendered or revoked.
On 16 January 2024, the Gambling Commission announced that this operator would pay a £6 million financial penalty following a regulatory investigation. The Commission found failings in the company’s social responsibility and anti-money laundering controls in relation to its remote operations.
As part of the same regulatory action, the Commission required the operator to undergo a third‑party audit. The purpose of this audit, as stated by the regulator, was to assess whether the company is effectively implementing its anti-money laundering and safer gambling policies, procedures and controls in practice.
The financial penalty and audit requirement were imposed under the Commission’s enforcement powers over licensed operators. The operator’s licence status on the Public Register remained active following the enforcement action, with the company continuing to operate subject to the conditions of its licence and the outcomes of the mandated audit.

The Licensee co-operated with the Commission throughout the investigation and advised that it had taken corrective steps. The Commission found no evidence of criminal monies being deposited by the specific customers looked at during its review.
